Where did the year go?

Jun. 1st, 2008 | 10:16 am
location: Home

There is only 6 months left in 2008! It's gone so quick..

We've been busy lately, working towards booking a tour and starting to talk with labels about releasing our EP. Unfortunately my laptop which had all our recording video and photography on it is not working at the moment (a delta arilines employee dropped it in LA!!) and i'm hoping they can fix it so i can start making some studio videos to show you guys how much fun we had making this EP. It would also be lovely to have every song i've ever written back, thats what you get for leaving stuff on your laptop and not backing a back up kids lol. im an idiot ha or maybe i have a lot of bad luck. tour tour tour tour soon!! excited...

my flight/journey back home..

May. 28th, 2008 | 08:21 am
location: Atlanta, LA, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gladstone...in 24 hours.

was crazy,

i missed the Atlanta to LA flight so they got me on a later one. met Steve in LA, so we hung out at the airport until 11 at night after arriving at 10 in the morning . Our plane from LA to Melbourne had to stop in Brisbane to re-fuel because we had flown into strong head winds all night so that added 2-3 hours onto the flight. so then i missed my Melbourne to Gladstone flight and it was the last of the day so they put me on a Melbourne to rockhampton flight which is 2 hours from where i even live. so when i got to Brisbane to change flights to rockhampton they told me there was one seat on a plane to Gladstone but needed to find my luggage so i could change again. so they finally found it and i waited another few hours and got on that plane. finally arrived home and they sent my guitars to rockhampton, so now im waiting for them to call me and tell me if they have found them so they can send them out to me. lol.oh and they dropped my laptop so it doesn't work anymore and i grabbed a friends MACbook charger which doesn't work!! annoyed

finally home.

i have so many photos yet to post..one day

We got into a Beerfest, free of charge and got to sample 150 different types of beer..well we didnt drink that many but if you were keen i guess you could. i'll have some photos of that eventful evening soon!

long nights, hold tight

May. 15th, 2008 | 04:21 am

so we have started mixing our EP and it's sounding great, malpass is doing an amazing job as always. Matt thiessen came by and took us out to an Arena football game. Atlanta vs Phili. Being the awesome team they are, atlanta lost pretty bad but we still had an awesome time!!! We had jeff from say anything come by and do some guitars and hang out which was fun! LAst night we came back to the studio, had some beers and then decided to head home, we were supposed to stay down the road but that fell through so we ended up having to drive an hour and a half to a place called Dahlonega in north geogia... nice area up in the mountains. On the way home the gas station wouldnt give us gas because they thought our ID's were fake and that we weren't australian...stupid idiot!

so we eventually found a gas station that was half decent and had an english speaking attendant and they gave us some lol. we woke this morning to a flat battery, our friend lane got a speeding ticket and we finally got to the studio after lunch..good times.

Michael is going home tomorrow and we're going to the movies again with matty thiessan and malpass. fun fun!

The weekend..

May. 12th, 2008 | 11:29 am

so we finished tracking everything for our EP on saturday, Matt Thiessen from Relient K came by again to hang out and our good friend matt the beer man came in and did some percussion for us. We did some group vocals and then headed down to  place called smiths old bar for a 500 songs for kids charity. I ended up playing a song and so did matt.. The place was sold out and every one was having a really good time! i think we're pretty sure matt malpass is the best producer alive ha! everything has been going really well and we have has a lot of fun! We have a week left of mixing and experimenting, adding sounds etc. Leighton from a band called Lydia is also singing on a track which we are really excited about...we cant thank everyone that has helped us out enough. A lovely girl by the name of Kat Jones did some vocals and it's sounding amazing! cant wait for you to hear it! sorry for the poor photos, better ones soon :)

So we started our day at what has become our daily routine...there's a cool gourmet cafe in the downtown Atlanta that have been serving us some amazing healthy food that has come to be a refreshing change, We did harmonies for a couple songs and then Jeff from a band called Say Anything came in and did keys and some guitar parts on a song. We had some italian food for lunch and then Matt from Relient K came by and did some keys on a track, it;s sounding amazing. After getting into the beers and whisky for a little while we headed to a bar called The Graveyard, Matt got us all into Darts and Lane, our assistant engineer ended up taking the win! After one too many drinks we headed back to the studio and were lucky enough to hear the brand new Relient K EP and it's sounding amazing, gave us so much motivation. We're pretty lucky to have so many people hanging out and helping us..Jerimiah, the drummer of Manchester Orchestra also hung out all day and was such a rad guy!

We're all going jogging shortly...Matt Malpass, Lane, Ellington and Matty from Relient K...good times!

Day Four - Vocals Finished

May. 2nd, 2008 | 02:24 pm
location: Atlanta, Georgia

hey

so today after another long bus ride into the city we had some amazing pasta at a cafe and made our way down to the studio. We had three songs left to track all the vocals for and finished them all which is awesome...we're way ahead of schedule which will leave us a lot of time to add parts and experiment with different sounds. We're really excited about the way it is sounding..we start tracking electric guitars tomorrow. We all went to a sushi restaurant in five points, filled ourselves up and came back home for another day. We have some very talented people coming into the studio to help out but we still want to wait to tell you guys exactly who they are..

Vocals - Done !!

Day One and Two In The Studio...

Apr. 30th, 2008 | 07:56 am
location: In the studio...Atlanta, GA

hiii

I'm going to be making a whole bunch of videos to put on the page of our journey when i get back to australia and putting some pics up when we get back to the basement tonight.... in the mean time.

We arrived at monsters and marigolds studio in Atlanta yesterday and were welcomed by our producer Matt Malpass who has done some of our favorite bands like copeland, lydia and rookie of the year. He's an awesome dude and we managed to finish tracking all the drums yesterday, Andy West drummed on the EP and we couldn't have asked for a better guy, really nice and solid. He has been in bands liked Cartel and Manchester Orchestra so him and Stevie West (ellingtons new drummer) worked together and came out with some awesome drum sounds. He used a 70's ludwig, vintage and it sounded amazing.Malpass and our engineer only known as Lane, who has been in bands like The Almost and with producer Matt Goldman worked together last night and mixed the drums so this morning i could get straight into doing the acoustic parts. We will start Vocals tomorrow and then on Monday have some very talented people coming in to help us...we will tell you more soon..Which is incredibly exciting. In between recording we have been listening to the new Rookie Of The Year album, which is amazing and eating a lot of buritos haha. We're so excited..and i have some tracks to do so talk soon

more photos soon...
